The goal of this project is about providing a tool to automatically and unobtrusively create a contextualized life-blog for people with special needs and make it available for later context-dependent retrieval. Such life-blog will contain images and sounds as perceived by the person, chronologically ordered and automatically tagged by the system providing them with contextual meaning. Thus, it will be possible to make searches of events or applying different algorithms to create different applications such as exercising the memory by revising emotional bindings with the past, serving as task tutorial when memory worsens, and working as alarm detection, evaluating person’s quality of life or just for entertainment. We also propose to validate the system with some users.

European project (Concerto) with 3 countries involved and 19 partners. The project gains new understanding regarding community perception of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy sources (RES) measures and to improve the measurement of acceptance and adaptation to changes in energy use habits through its research actions. It is built upon best practice eco-building solutions by researching and applying innovation, addressing all phases of the build process from planning, building design, construction and life time operation. The project also undertakes research and development work to establish innovative commercial and fiscal mechanisms to underpin the creation of local energy services and thus provide a flexible and sustainable approach to the local provision and distribution of electricity, heating and cooling. Also research aims to develop an Energy Services Company (ESCO) model based on existing research and feasibility assessments carried out in Zaragoza and Lyon, and models of successful ESCO development drawn from across Europe.

European project (IP) with 7 countries involved and 15 partners. The main objective of the Project is to analyze the usefulness and viability of the services which promote the autonomous life of elderly people or people with disabilities in their daily lives. The project divides services into existing and available (ready to be implemented), others which will be proposed with little modifications and others brand new. HOWLab researchers work on the development and integration of the technology and on the validation of the new services in the two apartments in Zaragoza (ceded by the City Council), two demonstrators (ceded by end users associations: Disminuidos Físicos de Aragón and ATADES) and in one shelter home (offered by the Government of Aragon).

European Project, led by the University of Zaragoza, in which 4 countries and 7 partners take part. Easy Line+ aims to give support to the autonomous life of elderly people specifically in the kitchen. HOWLab works on the development of RFID technology, ZigBee communication, artificial intelligence (Neuronal Networks to adapt to the user) and accessible and intuitive interfaces. Also, HOWLab researchers were in charge of the prototype validation in the same facilities as those of the MonAMI project.

Strategic and singular project framed under the subprogram Avanza R&D, funded by The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade of Spain.Cisvi project proposes a new research methodology to satisfy the needs of social communities and disabled people through ICT solutions based on “future internet”. This new methodology is called as Social Spaces for Research and Innovation (SSRI).(www.esdizaragoza.es)

The methodology used on the research is oriented to detect necessities and complex technological solutions, make prototypes out of them, validate and refine them always away from laboratories and close to real life environments where they are to be implemented. CISVI focuses on three scenarios: Work integration of people with cognitive disabilities, healthcare assistance at home for elderly people and support and learning of activities of daily living to promote independent life (led by the University of Zaragoza)

R&D project based on ICTs which aims to generate a system of network intelligence to integrate agent communities around cognitive illnesses. It also seeks the continuous improvement of attention processes, service and on-going support.
