HOWLab, as a research group associated to the Departments of Electronics and Communications Engineering and Design Engineering and Manufacturing, both at the University of Zaragoza. Ambient Intelligence is a broad concept that includes different paradigms where we dedicate a fundamental research activity used to build previous solutions:

  • Context Awareness
    • Electronics (sensors, digital electronic and signal processing)
    • Low power design and energy harvesting
    • Sensor and Actuator Networks
    • Wireless and wired communications (ZigBee, Bluetooth, WiFi, CAN, PowerLine, etc.)
    • Indoor/Outdoor localization (wireless technologies, GPS, ultrasound, etc.)

  • Ubiquitous computing
    • Middleware and service development in embedded devices (motes, residential gateways, miniPCs, etc.)
    • Application design and development for mobile devices (Symbian,WindowsPhone, Android, IOS)
  • Artificial Intelligence
    • Knowledge representation and modelling
    • Decision and reasoning (Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, etc)

  • User interaction
    • Implicit and explicit user interfaces for interaction support between people and technology
    • Sensory, physical and cognitive accessibility and usability
    • Multi-sensory stimulation
